Okay so as most of you know I spend 75% of my day alone with only a three year old to talk to. Which is fine but my day is lacking in adult conversation. So most days I have great conversations in my head. The only problem with this is that when it comes time to have a real conversation I am usually annoyed by the real answer because the pretend one in my head was so much better :)

For example, when talking to my husband about his costume, the conversation in my head went like this :

Me: "What do you want to be for Halloween?"

Husband: "A doctor of course (he has been that for the last three years)"

Me: "Do you want to get a new costume?"

Husband: "Why would I get a new one when this one is not paid for yet!"

Both: We laugh hysterically and agree :)

So when it came time for the real conversation I was waiting for a good laugh but it went like this:

Me:"What do you want to be for Halloween?"

Husband: "I don't know"

Me: "Okay"

Some times I wonder if I should just write a script and everyone can follow it, then life could always be funny!

Happy Valentines Day to all! I woke up to a wonderful surprise today. One of my seven year old boys made me breakfast in bed. It was so cute. I received a bowl of chex with milk and a whole grape fruit not to mention a half glass of water. It was so fun to wake up to a fun meal. I am so grateful for my wonderful children!

When looking at this picture for the first time my son replied " Who's he mom?" Well that he is me! With nice moon boots and a bull cut. Yeah, I rocked that hair cut. Actually I created that hair cut, right before my sister was born I went behind the couch and took my look in a whole new direction. Needless to say my mother was not as proud as I was but for the next several months we all dealt with the consequences. And I wonder where my boys get it from?

Where does the week go. I feel like by the time I get into a good grove the week is over and I have to prepare for a new one! It never ends. This week I am going to work on my time management so I can fit the most important things in. Reading my scriptures, the kids homework, dinner you know the basics :) We will see how it goes, wish me luck!

This Cake is a blast form the past. I tried to make an old fashion cake like my Grandma makes. One that is hand frosted and loosely piped. It was fun! The cake was chocolate with chocolate butter cream filling with chocolate chunks. It was covered in homemade butter cream. Yummy!

In life we always have to make choices. But some times the choices are between good and good. These can be the hardest choices we ever have to make. Why is that you may ask? It is because they both may be good choices and neither as far as you can tell will effect your life one way or another but the reality is a choice must be made! I find that if I turn these choices over to the Lord and am willing to accept any out come I always get an answer. So next time you have a choice to make whether it is simple or complicated ask the Lord for guidance and see what happens!

Chocolate Chip

Yes I know on Wednesdays I talk about my weight and Thursdays I show you all the new yummy desserts I am making. It makes no sense but I love dessert and I want to share them with all of you! These are my special homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies. I came up with the recipe in College and I have been perfecting them ever since. The boys want me to make them every day but I only make them about once a month. If any one knows how to take good pictures of food let me know. I am about to make some great looking cupcakes but I need to get some better shots of them. Let me know if you know how -Thanks-

After a 5 hour plane ride and a 4 hour car drive with 3 hungry boys and 1 crazy girl I finally made it to Idaho! A few hours after getting to my parents house my sister went into labor. We have been on a wild ride ever since.

My cousin Misti's two children have both been diagnosed with Alpha - 1. Alpha-1 is the 3rd most common serious genetic disorder in the world and can result in life-threatening liver or lung disease. Currently the only cure is liver transplant. Misti is going to be running the Salt Lake City Half Marathon for Alpha -1 and a cure. Okay it has been a month and a half since I started working on my weight loss goal. I have decided that I need to change my weight loss goal. I feel that 40 lbs is very overwhelming and that it is keeping me from feeling like I have accomplished anything. I am going to set my new goal at 20lbs less then I am now. I feel more confident about this and I am starting over right now!!!

My children are very busy and constantly keep me on my toes. They love to run, jump and drive each other crazy. Okay so I went to Deer Creek Middle School and to Columbine High school. So if any of you have been watching the news you know what is going on. What I want to know is what is wrong with our society. I do not understand how one person feels the need to hurt other people exspecially people who they don't know. Luckily there are still brave people who are willing to risk their own lives for the sake of others. I have great empathy for anyone who has gone through this. It is never fun to be afraid or to lose a friend at such a young age. We should never live in fear and the truth is the only thing to truly fear is fear its self. Be strong and always know that there is more to this life then the day to day. Also know that faith grows stronger in times of trial. My prays go out to all those who have ever been affected by school tragedies.

Sanctuary or Prison

My Husband and I where in the middle of our usual pillow talk when I said " I am glad that you feel like at the end of the day you can escape the crazy world and come home" Then He said " I hope my sanctuary is not your prison." I laughed at first but then I thought about it. There are days when I do feel like I'm stuck! So I decided I need to find a way to make my home my own sanctuary as well. I often feel like as mothers we worry so much about our families happiness we forget to see how happy we are. I am so blessed with four children, a great husband and a town with so many loving people. I just need to make more of an effort to see what I already have!

On that note I am going to list 5 things I love about my life:
1. My family
2. My faith
3. My hair (superficial I know but I need to love it before it goes gray)
4. My husbands job (It keeps him busy and me fascinated)
5. Good food

So before you feel like you are in a prison day by day count your blessing and you will find that your sanctuary has been there all along!

Last Sunday Masterpiece on PBS started a new three part Emma. My friend called me on Sunday to tell me it was coming on so I sat down to watch it for a bit. I love the classics and I thought this could be okay. I was wrong this new Emma was Great! I love it, the lead character Emma is played by a charming girl. I was so enchanted by all of the wonderful characters in this film. I have seen Emma before with many different actors but I love how all of these actors fit together so well it was delightful. Come and watch it with me, it is on today at 9:00pm eastern standard time, on PBS. Let me know what you think of it. You can also catch up on last weeks episode online at PBS.org. My Obsession with Food

It's official I have jumped on the dieting band wagon! I need to lose the baby weight form a year ago. I love food. I love to eat it all day and all night. Here is the goal... I have my ten year class reunion in August so I need to lose 40 lbs before I can go back and face everyone. The only reason I am putting this out here is because I need to feel accountable to someone. Now all of you out there in blogerville know. I will keep you updated on my progress and I will do all I can to get to my goal weight. Which is 150 (now all you math majors know how much I weight,he he) If you have any good tips let me know I am open to ideas!

Reality Show

Everyone now has a reality show. So I came up with an idea for my own. Lets follow around the wife's of medical residents for a year and see what they are up to. We can call the show Residency Widows. Any takers? I know a lot of you know what I am talking about but if not here is an example: Husband "I will be home today at 7pm" Wife "Sounds good see you then", Several hours and chocolate bars later Wife " What happened to 7pm?" Husband "Oh yea sorry its 10pm, Hospital" (Shrug). Everyone moves on until the next day which is a Saturday. Husband "I will be home at 1pm" Wife "I can't wait" Six Hours past arrival time one child's head injury and a infants fascination with a razor later. Wife "Where the Heck are you!" Husband "Still at the Hospital, I think am going to be late." Wife "AHHHHH!"
(These stories are based on real life experiences and are only a few of many!!)

P.S. The Husbands day turned out to be 100 times worse at the hospital then the wife's was at home, poor Husband. He is a great man.

I love it when people can remember every date of every big event in their life. I can barely remember how old I am let alone the date of when I first kissed my husband. I am so bad at remembering my past I often wonder if I am trying to block it out (ha ha). I have a friend who can remember every little thing her child has done since the day it was born. From the first coo to when it first got the flu. I however remember having my boys and then my mind goes blank. No really my memories pick up in about 2005 when the boys are two and we moved to Hershey. And even then some of my life's events are a bit hazy. So what does that say about me?.... :)

You think that once your children start school that every thing will be better! But the reality is the older they get the more you do for them and the less it is about you. If I only would have known that at 16 I had it all. I had free place to live, all the food I could eat and money when ever I asked for it.

We had a ward picnic on Saturday. It was so much fun. The primary children got to go to a wonka world. The primary has been earning points for bring their scriptures to church each Sunday. Their reward was a "wonka world", which is a tent full of candy and they each got to fill a bag with what ever they wanted. It was so much neat!

Counting Crows

On August 5th Erik and I went to a Counting Crows, Maroon 5 and Sarah Berellis Concert. It was so much fun. We have not been to a concert in forever! Sarah Berellis did good I only knew one of her songs. Maroon 5 was the best!!! The lead singer Adam is a great performer. Counting Crows decided to do acoustic versions of their songs. It sounded good but their lead singing started off smashed and he just got worse as the night went on. The songs sounded good but when he would talk he started to slur and in the last song he kept coughing. It was odd. We still had a great time!

The boys are officially 5 years old. They had a Finding Nemo Party yesterday with their friends. I made the cake and Erik made fish shaped pizza. Today we had our friends come over for cake. The boys are getting so big. I can not believe I am the Mother of three 5 year-olds.

The boys wanted to go on the father son camp out but it got rained out. So we deiced to have our own camp out! Adam lasted about an hour, Ty made it until 4am but Nathan stuck it out through the whole night. We had a great time!

We have been up to a ton lately. Erik and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary, we both got new callings and I just turned 27. I can not believe how time flies. I am 24 weeks pregnant and counting down the weeks. My friends had a baby shower for me yesterday. It was so much fun. I can not wait to see our new little one. I hope everyone out there is doing well. I will update more later.

We love our aunt Kelly. The boys miss her so much. We got a package from her yesterday and we were all so exited!!! Kelly, the boys totally love the masks. They wear them every were. We love you! Have fun in Japan.

Last week we drove to Baltimore to take Erik's Dad to the airport. When we got home we found this on our door. It was cute. We still do not know who the post-it note bandits are.

The Fish

We were walking through the park when a nice lady asked us if we wanted their stuffed fish. I said sure and then realized she was talking about the huge stuffed fish in her daughters hand and not the small one in hers. She was so nice. Come to find out she had triplet girls! It was so fun to meet them all. They are ten years old and were excited that the big fish that they won was going to triplet boys!

Open for the Summer!

Hershey Park is once again open for the summer. Grandpa Nielson came out to visit for the week so we took him to the park. The boys had a great time. We were at the park from 10:30am-6:30pm. We even went to the zoo. It was a long but a good day.
